Ten questions to: Zach Doerring!

In ‘Ten questions to …’, players from Cairox Hijs Hokij answer ten questions. With this section we want to introduce the fans to the players and staff of Cairox Hijs Hokij. In this fourth edition we ask forward Zach Doerring!

QUESTION 1: WHAT DO YOU DO IN DAILY LIFE?

In my daily life I like to explore nearby cities and the downtown area Den Haag. Brett and Doug have shown me many cool places already. I also like to help out with the youth hockey players anytime I can. In my down time, I play video games and read.

QUESTION 2: HOW DID YOU COME INTO CONTACT WITH ICE HOCKEY?

I started playing hockey when I was about 6 year old. I saw my older brother playing and I wanted to be just like him.

QUESTION 3: WHAT IS YOUR BEST ICE HOCKEY MOMENT SO FAR?

My best hockey moment is my four years of college hockey. I played in a lot of fun hockey games and made so many great memories and friends along the way.

QUESTION 4: What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the friendships I’ve made through life and hockey. Once you’ve played a lot of hockey you realize how small the hockey world is and how many connections there are within it.

QUESTION 5: WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE MATCH DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

On game days I wake up early, make breakfast, and stretch. After that, I’m not very superstitious about what I do – just a little stitious. As long as I’m at the rink early, I’m ready to go.

QUESTION 6: WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THE CLUB?

So far, what I’ve enjoyed about the club is how nice everyone is. From the team to the fans, everyone has been so welcoming to me.

QUESTION 7: Why do you play with back number #34?

I felt like picking a fun number so I chose 34 after the NHL player Auston Matthews.

QUESTION 8: You have switched to Cairox Hijs Hokij since a few weeks, do you not regret your choice?

I’m really happy with my decision to come here. The city has a lot to offer and the hockey has been really fun. I enjoyed my time in smaller towns, but living in a big city is a good change up.

QUESTION 9: What can you improve on your game?

As far as things I can improve in my game, there is a lot. I can improve on getting more chemistry with my new teammates, learning how to play hockey the Hijs way, and a getting shots off quicker.

QUESTION 10: “I ADMIRE …”

I admire all the people in my life who have helped me get to where I am today. Whether it was a coach, friend, or other mentor, they have shaped me into the person I am today.
